+ What is IPL Laser?
IPL (intense pulsed light) Laser is a technology used to perform various skin treatments, without damaging the skin's surface. IPL is a long-lasting solution for visible signs of sun damage and aging skin. The laser therapy treatment can help lighten and reduce brown spots, freckles, skin redness, facial flushing, telangiectasia, varicose veins, broken capillaries, and wrinkles/fine lines. IPL Laser can also help repair port wine stains, flat birthmark, hypo-pigmentation, large pores and unwanted hair.
+ How does IPL Laser Work?
IPL Laser uses a spectrum of light onto the skin to treat varies signs of skin damages. IPL technology delivers a concentrated pulse of light which produces heat that is gently absorbed into underlying layers of the skin, stimulating the production of new collagen. The new collagen can fill in fine lines or wrinkles, reducing their appearance. IPL technology also smooths uneven skin tone and texture, giving patients a more glowing look.
When treating telangiectasia, varicose veins, and broken capillaries IPL technology heats and damages blood vessel walls, which shrinks the targeted veins and makes them disappear.
+ What should I expect with treatment?
Upon your arrival, you will fill out a questionnaire to determine your skin type. Dr. Prokupek will listen to your concerns and your desired results to determine an appropriate treatment plan.
The procedure process is quick and easy, depending on the size of the area to be treated it should take no more than 15 to 45 minutes with little to no downtime. You will be able to continue with your normal routine immediately after your office visit. Because IPL Laser treats under the skin surface, you might expect gradual results over time.
+ How should I prepare my skin before my IPL Laser treatment?
To obtain the best possible results, we ask patients to avoid direct sun exposure or use spray tan/self-tanner two weeks before your treatment. We also recommend patients to avoid sun exposure for 48 hours after your treatment.
+ Does IPL Laser hurt?
IPL Laser Therapy treatment is a mild, non-invasive procedure. The procedure may cause mild discomfort but will be minimized by topical numbing cream. Most patients describe the procedure to feel a slight stinging sensation similar to a rubber band.
